Mug Lounge is the best! I found it a couple of months ago walking down the street. It is fairly close to my apartment so I come here all the time now! It is a great place. I love the mis-matched sixties style furniture. They have great wines and top shelf liquors. The staff is friendly and they remember me every time I come back! It is the perfect place to sit back, relax and have some drinks!!!!

I love driving into the city from Long Island, and I always know that there will be great people and conversations at Mugs. My friends and I can always find a great hot spot but end our Saturday nights at Mugs. If we are around during the week or early on the weekend we end up at Mugs. The music is always good, and the owner and his wife always treat us well. Stop off and enjoy a comfortable hanging spot!

You might not notice it at first as you walk along 13th St at Avenue A, but go inside Mug and you'll find a great place to relax and drink with friends. A few buddies and I stopped in last Wednesday night. We were able to find a comfortable corner for everyone to relax in. The $4 Red Stripes where just what we needed after work. The Reggae music was chill and just loud enough that we could enjoy the beat but still talk over it. After a few rounds we got hungry. They were serving amazingly good Jamaican jerked chicken for Happy Hour so we didn't have to buy any dinner. We used our cash to buy a few more rounds instead. After a while, some ladies showed up and we ended up having a little party in the lounge! It was the perfect night in the East Village. We'll be back for Reggae night.
Pros: Plenty of places to find a seat
Cons: Didn't look like a bar from the outside
Avoid for Birthday Parties!

I booked my birthday party at Mug over two weeks in advance. The woman I spoke with was very accommodating and flexible with the party plans. The only requirement was a deposit to the owner to guarantee we would show up. I went to the bar during the owner's "working hours" SEVEN times over the course of the next week and a half to try and deposit the money, and every time I was told that the owner was not in, and that I would have to come back another day. After each visit, I called and made sure that nothing was going to be messed up as I had already sent out the invites, booked the DJs, etc. and they assured me it wasn't a problem. After my last unsuccessful visit, I called again, and was informed that someone had walked in that morning, put down a deposit, and now had the space on my night. They were totally UNAPOLOGETIC about it and left me without a venue THREE DAYS BEFORE MY BIRTHDAY. A TOTAL DISAPPOINTMENT. I recommend steering clear of this venue if you want somewhere reliable to throw a party.
Place where you can get relexatoin.

My friends and I kinda ran into Mug by accident when we were out in the Village. The drinks weren?t expensive and the wine list was really good. It?s got a cool, relaxed vibe?small, posh but friendly.
